About Us

What We Believe

New Hope Moravian Church is a vibrant congregation within the Southern Province of the Moravian Church in America, a Christ-centered Protestant denomination with roots tracing back to the teachings and witness of Jan Hus in the early 15th century. For centuries, the Moravian Church has been committed to sharing the Gospel, serving communities, and nurturing spiritual growth around the world.

At New Hope, we are dedicated to creating a welcoming and faith-filled community where people can grow in their relationship with Jesus Christ. Through meaningful worship, Christian education, outreach, and service, we strive to live out our mission of faith, love, and hope in everyday life.

We warmly invite individuals and families of all ages and backgrounds to join us—whether for worship services, fellowship, or one of our many events throughout the year. Here, you will find a place to belong, to grow, and to serve.

Holy Communion

In the sacrament of Holy Communion, God makes use of physical elements (bread and wine) so that with prayer and faith they become a means of experiencing God’s grace in a special way. Along with the sacrament of baptism, Holy Communion is a gift of God made effectual by the preaching of the Word and the response of faith. Whether Christians call this sacrament the Holy Communion, the Lord’s Supper, or the Eucharist, we celebrate this divine practice in remembrance and thanks to God for all that Jesus Christ has done, redeeming us through the sacrifice of His body and blood.

Lovefeast

A Moravian Lovefeast is a communal worship service
featuring hymn-singing and the sharing of a simple meal—usually a
sweet bun and coffee—to celebrate Christian fellowship and
equality. Modeled after the early Christian agape meals mentioned
in the Book of Acts, this tradition dates back to 1727 in Germany.

The Moravian Star

The Moravian star is a lighted, multi-pointed, geometric decoration originating in Saxon Germany the 1830s at German Moravian boarding schools for boys which used the stars as craft projects to help them demonstrate geometry lessons to young boys attending their Moravian school. The star symbolizes the star of Bethlehem and the light of Jesus Christ and is traditionally hung from the first Sunday of Advent through Epiphany.
